16 weeks! 4 months down!!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!! Sending much love and warm wishes today!! Please have safe travels, great food, and enjoy time with family and friends!!

WE LOVE YOU!

Eric and I are already having such a fun Christmas morning! We did stockings for each other this year and just laughed and enjoyed every second of opening them!!
We celebrated Christmas with my family last night! Great food, opened gifts, and watched It's a Wonderful life! I made a red velvet cake which no one but Eric and I had tried before and everyone LOVED it! It was a hit, which made me fell great!

Today we are heading to the Sorenen's to celebrate Christmas! Looking forward to seeing everyone! Annie and Mike are in from England and Gramie and Grampie will be there as well! It's always fun to see Cali open Christmas presents! Christmas is so special for kids it's fun to see them light up!

Tonight we are going over to my parents again for appetizers and a low key night! My sister and Mike are heading over to a friends house to celebrate this evening so it'll just be the 4 of us! It'll be a nice quiet way to end Christmas!

We have our next doctor's appt on Monday so we are looking forward to that! I have to have some testing done in the next few weeks to see if the baby is developing correctly (no genetic problems) and then we will be told when we will get the prescription to get our ultrasound done at 20 weeks! So we will know within a month what we are having!!!!!!

Here is some info on baby at week 16:
Your Baby

By pregnancy week 16 your baby is more than 4.5 inches long and may weigh almost 3 ounces.
Changes In Your Growing Baby
Your baby is planning on a huge growth spurt in the upcoming weeks. During pregnancy week 16 your baby has grown strong enough to hold his head straighter. Your baby's eyes and ears are moving into their final position and your baby is focusing much of her energy on her circulation system. By 16 weeks pregnant your baby's heart is pumping roughly 25 quarts of blood each day! At 16 weeks pregnant your baby starts growing fine hair on the tope of his head, though some babies will be born very bald despite their best efforts. The color of your baby's hair and even your baby's eyes may change shortly after birth. Many babies are born with blonde hair for example that falls out and turns brown a short time after birth. Still others are born with brown eyes that turn blue within a month or two after birth! Your baby will continue to amaze you in the weeks following pregnancy.

Lots of love,

Eric, Mary and Baby Sorensen

15 weeks pregnant! Sorry it's late!

Sorry this post is so late! We were out of town this weekend and I forgot about it!!

We hit 15 weeks on Friday! We are closing out our 3rd month of pregnancy this week! Christmas day will be 4 months!!

We had a busy week! Eric was busy working, I was busy finishing up everything for Christmas! We had a crazy weekend of traveling! We went to Michigan to celebrate Christmas with both sides of my family! We celebrated at Brian and Jenny's house on Saturday night it was great to spend time with Landon (1 of their 3 boys) and my aunt and uncle as well! We had a wonderful night of great pizza and salad, lots of cookies and great conversation!

On Sunday morning I took Eric through my old neighborhood where I grew up! We went all around saw my old house, my school, my friends houses! We went to my favorite bakery and got one of my old treats called Manakeesh (which is an Arabic flat bread with a special cheese melted in it) it was soo good! I had been craving them all week.

We went to my Auntie Robbie's house on Sunday afternoon! Mom made stuffed shells and A. Robbie made tons of appetizer's we stuffed ourselves talked for hours and opened presents! James' birthday is in January so my mom gave him his gift early it was this adorable chef's costume and cooking set! He was adorable!

Eric loved playing with the boys both days!

Eric drove to and from Michigan which was so nice of him, I got a chance to catch up on some sleep in the car which was much needed after a bad nights sleep in the hotel.

Tonight Eric is taking me to seeing the Chicago Symphony and then out to dinner! Looking forward to a nice night out in the city!

14 weeks! Hello 2nd Trimester!!!

Hello Everyone!!

We have made it to the 2nd trimester and we are so excited for yet another milestone!!

Here is a look at what a baby looks like at 14 weeks in the womb!

This week:
I worked hard on getting our Christmas cards out this week! It always takes a long time but I love doing it! I also wrapped all of our christmas presents!! I normally wait until the last minute so it's nice to be done early this year!

We had some VERY cold weather this week and some snow/ice storms. It is officially freezing and it is making me so excited to have a baby in June when it's nice and warm. It would be so hard to cart a baby around in freezing weather like this.

We played A LOT of Super Mario Brothers on Wii this week. We had a lot of fun playing together!

Eric started at his new job downtown this week and is LOVING it! He's never worked downtown before and so he's really excited about it. He'll be working downtown some days, but mostly will be in the south suburbs of Chicago. He really loves his new boss and is enjoying this new opportunity.

We did a lot of cooking this week. We decided to not eat out at all this week which is a big accomplishment for us! We tend to take the easy way out and go out, but we decided to be more domestic and cook a lot this week! It was great, we made a lot of really good stuff and tried some new recipes!

That's about it for this week! We have a birthday party tomorrow night for our good friend Missy, othe than that it's a pretty quiet weekend ahead of us!!

Lots of love,

Eric, Mary, & Baby Sorensen

13 weeks!

We've made it to 13 weeks! 1 week left in the 1st trimester!!!

We had our 3 month check up on Monday! Mama and Baby are both doing perfect!

We got to hear the heartbeat on the Doppler! The Doctor said that it was strong and fast and sounded great! She joked saying it sounded like the baby was on a tiny treadmill!

The only bad news that we got is that we are not going to have our ultrasound for 2 more months (the end of January). We can only get 1 in the 2nd trimester. The good news is that we will know the gender at that time so Baby Sorensen will have a name around January 22nd when we are 20 weeks along!

Some info about baby at 13 weeks:

Your baby can make a fist and even suck his or her thumb this week—both skills that are über-cute during infancy ... and not so much at the age of 9. If you're really lucky, you might catch a glimpse of baby's thumb sucking on an ultrasound photo. That's a framer! Other exciting developments include:

Your baby's eyelids are fused shut to protect his eyes as they develop. His bones and skull are solidifying and soon itsy-bitsy ribs may appear. (Baby ribs! How cute is that?!) Baby's intestines are finally right where you want them—in his or her belly instead of poking out into the umbilical cord. Baby's tooth sockets are all loaded and ready to pop out baby teeth six or seven months after baby is born (causing baby a lot of pain and you a lot of lost sleep).

His vocal cords and larynx are completed now.

Your baby-to-be now weighs about 20 grams and is nearly 3 inches long, or about the size of a Nutter Butter, covered in chocolate. OK, it doesn't have to be covered in chocolate, but isn't everything better that way?

Other things that went on this week:
Eric was offered a new job at another company and he decided to take it! He is so excited about the position. He is going to be working downtown Chicago and in the chicagoland suburbs so it's not as close, but the pay and benefits are better which is nice! He is going to be heading the ergonomics program as well as helping out in clinics in the chicagoland area! We are both so excited about it! We went out for a nice Italian dinner to celebrate on Tuesday night!

I started writing out our Christmas cards! We do almost 50 so it takes a while! They are very pretty this year! I have to admit though be bought them at the end of the season last year at Barnes & Noble for $1 a box! I do that every year as long as I can find cute ones!!

We put up all our outdoor Christmas lights up this week, we decided to get into the spirit and decorate! Here are some pictures:

Hope everyone had a great week!! Have a wonderful weekend!

Mary, Eric, and Baby Sorensen
